cci

Pronunciation: [t͡ʃːɪ]

“cci” is a Sicilian word. Its 2 meanings in English:

adverb

  1. to there, here, there
  2. forms part of many verbs

Etymology

Uncertain. The starting palatilized consonant is irregular. Compare the pronoun particle ci (“(to) him/her/it/them”), for more. This term is certainly cognate with Neapolitan ce, Sassarese zi, and Italian ci (see this for more). All these share similar adverbial and pronominal senses, Sicilian does not.
