Scoti

“Scoti” is a Latin word. Its 2 meanings in English:

proper noun

  1. the Scots; the Scottish people of northern Britain
  2. the Irish; Gaelic-speaking people of Ireland and Scotland

Etymology

Uncertain. Possibly from Celtic, though the name does not correspond to any known tribes. Another possibility is a non-Indo-European substrate.
