Cognates include Finnish asema (“station, location”), Erzya эзем (ezem, “place, bench”) and possibly Northern Khanty ӑсәм (ăsəm, “pillow”) and Northern Mansi осма (osma, “pillow”), as well as Estonian asuma (“to be located”).
