hareiously

“hareiously” is a Middle English word. Its meaning in English:

adjective

  1. cruelly, sternly

Etymology

Presumably from Middle English harageous, which is also attested with closer spelling haraious. haraious bears comparison to Old French aragier (“become enraged”), though all Middle English forms have the initial h, perhaps through the influence of Old French harer (“to set a dog on”), whence English harass, etc.
