valideyn
Pronunciation: [vɑliˈdejn]
“valideyn” is an Azerbaijani word. Its meaning in English:
noun
Etymology
Borrowed from Arabic وَالِدَيْن (wālidayn), oblique dual of وَالِد (wālid, “father, parent”). The Arabic form already means “parents”, but was additionally suffixed with the Azerbaijani plural ending, and the singular meaning “parent” was then backformed. Related with övlad (“child”), which is from the same Arabic root (and also a backformed singular).
